The Story
Jordan moved to Oklahoma in 2010 from Canada to study biology at UCO in preparation for medical school. He became very involved with New Divine Destiny church and was mentored by the pastor, Dr. Mario Maxwell. Madison's family started going to New Divine Destiny in 2011, where she played piano on the worship team and was also mentored by Dr. Mario Maxwell. They met in church and it grew from there. Madison and Jordan became close friends and developed a strong friendship for 3 years. After suffering a pulmonary embolism, Dr. Maxwell passed away on June 5th 2014. A tragic event that Madison and Jordan mourned. Time passed and months later, Jordan and Madison began seeking The Lord on the direction He had for their life and relationship. After praying and seeking counsel, there was peace and grace for them to continue to pursue a further relationship. And their courting journey began. Both families were thrilled.
This was new to both of them. They had both individually saved themselves for when God directed them to the person He had for them and both had never been in such a relationship with anyone else previously.
Months after courting, in July 2015, Jordan and Madison flew to Canada, which was her first time out of the United States. They went to visit Jordan’s family for a summer vacation. Jordan was ecstatic and didn’t sleep very much the week leading up to this special day, because he knew what was coming. On July 28th, Madison, Jordan, and the Graber family went to the mountains. Jordan convinced Madison to dress nicely and said they were going to a very upscale town. As it was her first time in Canada, she believed anything she was told about the country. Arriving in Banff, Alberta, they bought ski lift tickets to the top of Mt. Norquay. The guys working the ski lift created a diversion while the engagement scene was set up on the edge of the mountain with an incredible view that you could see for miles. Jordan casually asked Madison if she wanted to go on a little walk. Thinking nothing of it, she agreed. Minutes later he brought her to a beautiful set up with a picnic that had all her favorite things. On the side of the mountain a big banner read “Madison, will you marry me?” Jordan had a bottle with a 6 page letter inside that he wrote and read to her. There was a sweetness that only the Presence of the Lord could bring. The few stormy clouds parted and the sun shined bright as Jordan dropped on one knee, professed how much he loved her and asked the most important question he had been waiting for; “Madison, will you marry me?” In the process of the moment, time seemed to freeze. Then she said yes. Tears flowed and they had a wonderful picnic, sharing all of her favorites snacks and treats. After an hour, which seemed only like minutes, they came down the mountain where the family was waiting and there was nothing but joy and celebration.
And the celebration continues still.
